A Tribute to my Mother

Each month when Lucky Magazine arrives, I do what I do with most of my favorite novels - I quickly flip to the back page with anticipation & curiosity. Lucky always ends with a lovely tribute to mothers called My Mom, The Style Icon which is a column inspired by Piper Weiss' blog . In honor of Mother's Day, this feature inspired a tribute to the woman that taught me to never place judgement on others, always treats people with compassion, approach life knowing that it is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it....and always keep a frozen lasagna in the freezer for last minute guests. I recently stumbled upon a handful of pictures of my mother that I find incredibly captivating - they reflect not only her beauty but also her sweet demeandor and kind soul. Her love for life and positive attitude has always been contagious. When I was young, she would wake me up with a song while she opened my bedroom drapes to let the sun shine in. Now in my 30's, I occasionally find myself humming this uplifting song in the morning. The lyrics:

Good morning, good morning, good morning...

It's time to rise and shine! Good morning, good morning, good morning...

I hope you're feeling fine! The sun is just above the hill, another day for us to fill.

Good morning, good morning, good morning...

It's time to rise and shine!

I love you, Mom!  xoxo
